Mrs. Debra Winkelman

Administrator

Mrs. Debra Winkelman received her degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1991. In addition to the school administration she is also responsible for the Daycare and Preschool. She has 25 years of administrative experience. When she is not working, she can be found walking and taking care of her many exotic animals. She is the proud parent of Dillon who is married to Kim and is working his PHD in Nutritional Science.

Mrs. Honey Lynne Thomas

Pre-K Teacher
 
Mrs Honey Lynne Thomas received her degree in education from the University of Phoenix in 2011. She is the Director of Early Childhood Education and one of our Pre-K Teachers. She is married, has one child, one dog, one lizard and hold the record for most trips to Disneyland on the Bethlehem Lutheran staff. She is also known as “The Disney Fanatic”.

Ms. Ashlynd, Graduated from BYU-Idaho with a Bachelors degree in graphic design in 2019. She enjoys being the preschool teacher. For free time, she enjoys watching murder mysteries, cooking, and listening to music. She has 1 dog and enjoys being an aunt to her only niece 

 

Mrs. Rebecca Iaeger

Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Rebecca Iaeger  received her undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007. She went on to earn her masters in curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University in 2012. She loves to read, hike, garden, and play games.

Mrs. Sara Whitney

First Grade Teacher
 
Mrs. Sara Whitney graduated with her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2008. She received her Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement in 2010. Mrs. Whitney taught for 7 years, enjoyed substitute teaching for many years and most recently was a Director at a local Christian Preschool. She delights in spending time with her family, reading, baking and helping with the local AYSO soccer organization.
 
 

Ms. Natalee Medel

Second Grade Teacher

 Miss Natalee Medel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1997. Her concentration is in Reading Literacy. Miss Medel is the director of the 3rd-4th grade choir. She loves to sing in choir and worship team at church and in the community choir, Voices of the Sierra.  Travel is also a passion for her as she has journeyed to China and Israel. Her love of music and travel has even taken her to New York City to sing in a choir at Carnegie Hall with Steven Curtis Chapman.

Mrs. Jamie Gilson

Third Grade Teacher

Mrs. Jamie Gilson is our  3rd grade teacher. She graduated with a teaching degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Ca. She received her Master of Arts in Education from Boise State University. Many of you know her very well as she has been a substitute here for many years along with having 3 of her children here at Bethlehem. She also served as a teacher in Sanaa, Yemen.  We are excited about having such a great Christian teacher on our staff.

Fourth Grade Teacher

 Mrs. Amanda Manning is a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, IL. She graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Psychology concentration. Mrs. Manning assists with the Speech/Drama group as well as the Cross country Team. She is originally from Decatur, IL. She loves to hike, and listen to music. Her favorite christian rock band is Hawk Nelson and is a Cubs fan. Cubs forever!

Mrs. Briana Bloom

5th Grade Homeroom

Mrs. Briana Bloom earned her bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2001. She and her husband met at a wedding. She has a bonus daughter and a set of identical twin boys. She collects fountain pens and loves to practice calligraphy with them by writing hand written letters to her friends and family. Mrs. Bloom loves the Spanish language and has traveled to El Salvador and Mexico numerous times. She also studied American Sign Language while pursuing her Associates degree. 

Mr. Jarvis Manning

6th Grade Homeroom / 6th-8th Grade History

Mr. Jarvis Manning is a 2008 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in History.  Mr. Manning works with the school’s speech/drama group as well as with the Knowledge Bowl Teams.  Mr. Manning is originally from Indiana and loves to travel.  His travels have taken him across the globe, including time spent teaching at Castillo Fuerte Lutheran School in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He is a big enthusiast of the Civil War, hiking, and off-roading.

7th Grade Homeroom / 6th-8th Grade Literature  

 Anna Maschke graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska with a degree in elementary education in 2001. She went on to earn her Masters in Literacy Education from Concordia in 2008.  She taught for seven years in Missouri and California before spending the last nine years on the parental side of school involvement, volunteering in classrooms and serving on the Site Council and PTA board of the local elementary school while in California.

Anna enjoys good coffee, goods books and spending time with her family.

8th Grade Homeroom /5th-8th Grade Science Teacher / Vice Principal

 Mr. Clay Soderstrom received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Idaho in Elementary Education with a Math concentration in December of 1988. Mr. Soderstrom is the school’s technology administrator. He is a die hard Dolphins fan and can be seen on the UNR sidelines rooting for his Idaho Vandals.
