Jeff was born in Yuba City, California. He was baptized a week after he was born at First Lutheran Church in Yuba City, CA. Jeff attended First Lutheran School from first to sixth grade. He was confirmed at First Lutheran during 8th grade while attending Brittan Elementary School in Sutter, CA. Jeff met his wife, Janelle, in grammar school. They dated through high school and through their college years as well. Jeff attended the University of California, Berkeley, as well as California State University, Chico, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Computer Science in 1985, and an M.S. degree in Computer Science in 1992.
Brian Filter was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City. He graduated from the State University of New York, University at Albany, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in 1989. Brian was then admitted to study law at Syracuse University and received his Juris Doctorate degree from that institution in 1993. Brian is a practicing attorney with over 20 years of experience. He is currently a Deputy District Attorney in Douglas County, Nevada. Prior to that he worked for the Washington County Attorney’s Office in St. George, Utah, as a prosecutor from 1995 through 2014.
Brian is a husband and father; he and his wife Linda have been married for over 20 years; his daughter Erika, is the pride of his life. He enjoys sports, being a fan of the Syracuse Orange and New York Yankees. Although a knee injury has hampered his running in recent years, one of his greatest accomplishments was finishing the New York City Marathon.
Baptized and raised in Catholicism, Brian studied Lutheranism after meeting his wife, a lifelong Lutheran, and developed a deep and fulfilling faith life. Brian became a member of the LCMS Church nearly 15 years ago. Brian previously served as an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, in St. George, Utah.
Edward (Butch) Gansberg
Jarvis Manning has served as a Bethlehem Church Elder since 2013. He is a 2008 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and teaches 5th Grade at Bethlehem Lutheran School. Jarvis is originally from Indiana and received his early education from Trinity Lutheran School in Crown Point, Indiana and Luther East High School in Lansing, Illinois.
Jarvis loves to travel. His travels have taken him across the globe, including time spent teaching at Castillo Fuerte Lutheran School in Guatemala City, Guatemala. However, the rich history and Wild West feel have made him feel right at home in Carson City. His wife, Amanda, teaches 4th Grade at Bethlehem Lutheran and they have two children: Noah and Cora.
Tom Runoff was born in 1946 and raised in central Minnesota. He was raised as a Catholic, went through periods of being an atheist, then a non-denominational Christian, before becoming a Missouri Synod Lutheran Christian. He has been married to his lovely and caring wife Gwenn for 48 years. He was an electrician for many years and when he moved to Carson City, he got his license as an electrical contractor at which he is presently self employed.
He has traveled a lot both in the U.S. and world, including every state except Mississippi, Australia, the Mediterranean, England and Ireland. Presently, he mainly travels to Washington State to see his son, daughter-in-law and grandkids. He enjoys skiing, hiking and occasional adventures such as whitewater rafting and skydiving.
He was honored to become an elder not long after he moved out here. He was an elder at Faith Lutheran in St. Cloud, MN before that.
